Savvy Student Shopper’s Trip to Giant 7/21

I went back to Giant again to snag some more deals! I was never a fan of Giant, but with the perks of accepting competitor coupons and the Gas Rewards, I am hooked! I got all below for $7.58. I also earned 600 gas points today, which equals $0.60 off every gallon of gas. Those 600 points are added to the 500 points from the last 3 weeks, making a grand total of $1.10 off every gallon, and I haven’t even paid more than $15 out of pocket this month at Giant!

  • (4) Fresh Gourmet Salad Toppings $1.67 each *Gas Deal* -Used (2) $0.55/2 DND coupons = Money Maker after Gas Rewards
  • (4) Cover Girl Eye Shadow $2.29 each *Gas Deal* -Used (2) $3/2 MQ + (2) $2/2 Target coupons = Money Maker after Gas Rewards

Savvy Student Shopper’s Trip to Giant ($0.19!)

I shared with my Facebook lovies the other day that Michael discovered that our local Giant accepts competitors coupons! Cool, right?

I was skeptical but of course had to go try it out! I’m not usually a Giant shopper, I usually go just a few times/year but I do think they have a great Gas Rewards program. I skimmed the ad, got out my drugstore stuff, printed some Target coupons and a $5/$25 from Dollar General and headed off for a small, experimental trip. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to try Target coupons (they didn’t have what I needed in stock), but I am pretty positive they would have taken them. It IS in Giant’s coupon policy to accept competitors coupons, but it will be up to the discretion of the cashier or manager on duty, of course. I was very shocked she even accepted my ECB from CVS! Woot!

Bought:

  • (6) ChiChi Salsa $1.50 each = $0.50 each after $0.50/1 coupons
  • (1) ChiChi Tortilla $1.67 = $0.67  after $0.50/1 coupon
  • (4) Suddenly Salad $1 = $0.10 Money Makers each after $0.55/1 coupons
  • (1) Butterball Turkey Bacon $1.50 = $0.50 after $0.50/1 coupons
  • (1) Snyder’s Pretzels $2.50 = $1.50 after $1/1 Giant Coupon
  • (4) Heluva Good Dip $1.67 each = $0.17 each after $0.45/1 Giant coupons

Used a $5/$25 Dollar General Printable (before coupons I was at $25.43). After coupons, my subtotal was $0.94. I used a $0.75 ECB from CVS and paid $0.19 for everything! And for buying 7 participating Gas Rewards items (the ChiChis) I got 200 Gas points ($0.20 off/gallon)!
